Old Town is the beating heart of Wichita, seen in its cobbled streets and fabulous food. Filled with repurposed 19th-century warehouses, Old Town is the convergence of past and present in Doo-Dah.

Lotus Leaf Café

Whether you need a quick bite to eat or a sit-down dinner, Lotus Leaf is ready to provide! With vegan cheesecakes, smoothies, and juices, this restaurant is perfect for lunch or a midday snack.

As for dinner, there are plant-based options galore, plus some hearty sandwiches and fancy entrees. Almond-crusted cod, anyone?

Did I mention you can drink here too? Clearly, Lotus Leaf Café is more than just a great plant-based option in Wichita.

Old Mill Tasty Shop

The Old Mill Tasty Shop serves immaculate, retro vibes and fresh malts on the same freaking platter.

Although I’m a sandwich girl myself, my former boss raved day in and day out about Old Mill’s green chili. With a working soda fountain, Old Mill Tasty Shop brings it home with their sweet treats. From soda floats to ice cream sandwiches, they’ve got just about everything here.

And the décor! I have a soft spot for tile floors, but those vintage booths are out of this world too! Old Mill Tasty Shop is fun for the family and oh-so-delicious.

Larkspur Bistro & Bar

Larkspur Bistro is perfect for romantic nights where you want to take it up a notch without breaking the bank.

Their outdoor patio is romantic and often filled with a fun, lively crowd. I seem to remember singing someone “Happy Birthday” in three-part harmony on one such occasion.

The fish is great, the wine is always good, and the Caesar salad is, frankly, stellar. What’s not to love?

Public at the Brickyard

They’re famous for their pizza (as well they should be), but did you know they also serve a “Pickle Plate” as an appetizer? There’s nothing better than a properly crunchy dill pickle!

With a slightly rowdy atmosphere, you’re sure to have a good time at the Public. Plus, they have gluten-free and vegan options, so everyone can eat and enjoy the good times!

On top of eating an award-winning meal, you can also go watch whatever band or musician is playing that night in the yard. Good food and good music? Now, that’s a winning combination in my book.

The Kitchen

This American Bistro is dedicated to making everything—and I mean everything—from scratch. Yep, the flatbread beneath your delicious pizza, the salty chips on the side, and every slice of lemon sunshine cake are all homemade. Which means everything is unbelievably good.

This rich eatery doesn’t just serve classic American dining; they’ve also created meals for plant-based and GF eaters.

And, despite being so delicious and labor-intensive, everything is pretty fairly priced. The super attentive and friendly staff, amazing mission, and wonderful food make this place heaven in Wichita.

Sabor Latin Bar and Grille

Now, I know I’ve mentioned Sabor Latin Bar and Grille before, but that’s only because they’re quite literally the best! With an amazing menu and multiple plant-based dishes, Sabor is the perfect date night spot for vegetarians and carnivores alike.

The ambiance is intimate and romantic with a splash of tipsy volume thrown in there. Speaking of, their bar is well-stocked and sure to please. And I know I’m repeating myself, but that polenta tower truly has my heart.

Simply the best!

Todd Brian’s Brick Street Café and Eatery

Previously mentioned in our best steak in Wichita article, Todd Brian’s is one of the quirkier options on this list.

With 75 martinis alone, you know Todd Brian’s is always a fun time. Their chicken-fried steak is locally famous for being so gosh-darn huge, and their Cajun eats (catfish, jambalaya, and red beans and rice) are spiced to perfection.

This underrated and often overlooked gem deserves some new visitors, so stop on by!

Blue Fin

With some of the best sushi in Wichita, Blue Fin is a great option for a night out with friends or a celebratory dinner. They’ve got sake out the wazoo, so get ready to drink and drink again!

Now, I admit my tastes are a little simple when it comes to sushi (yes, I always order an avocado roll). But I know of others who are more experimental than I that rave about the rolls here at Blue Fin.

Their newly renovated interior is slick and absolutely worth a peek, so grab your ID and get ready for some sake!

Beacon Restaurant

The Beacon is a Wichita classic for breakfast and other dive treats. So, of course, they made our best breakfast in Wichita list and now Best in Old Town, because, well, they deserve it!

There won’t be any ruffles, frills, or twists to your meal here—no, no. But what they do, they do well. (Like their mean biscuits and gravy.)

You’ll be treated like family the second you walk through their doors, so you can rest easy knowing the Beacon is a good place for you and yours.
