The 8 Best Places for Chicken Wings in St. Louis

best wings st louis

If you know me, you know that I love buffalo chicken anything. Whether it’s a sandwich, wrap, dip, or straight-up wings, I’m a fan of it all.

Lucky for me, St. Louis has some pretty incredible wing joints. In fact, we even have our own style of chicken wings. Referred to as “trashed” wings, this chicken is deep-fried, coated in wing sauce, deep-fried again, and then coated in more hot sauce. It’s not healthy, but it sure is delicious!

From trashed wings to standard wings, here are my picks for the 8 best places for chicken wings in St. Louis.

Map of the Best Chicken Wings in St. Louis

Most popular: Syberg’s

Syberg’s claims to be the home of the best wings in St. Louis, and I believe them. After winning the People’s Choice award at the St. Louis Wing Ding, it seems like the other locals also agree.

Syberg’s Original Wing Sauce is often described as “mustardy,” thick, spicy, and creamy. If mustard isn’t for you, they have plenty of other flavors, like Buffalo, Buffalo Brown Sugar, Trashed, Barbecue, and more.

Syberg is so popular in St. Louis that they have not one, but five locations, and you can even buy their sauces online. This restaurant also offers fantastic lunch specials and dinner specials, ranging from discounted pizza to Sunday fried chicken.

My favorite: The Post Sports Bar & Grill

Nestled in downtown Maplewood, The Post is a great spot to order wings and watch the game. The Post’s wings are traditionally baked but can be fried upon request, and you can choose from flavors like honey barbecue, spicy garlic, and honey mustard. Still, in my opinion, you can’t go wrong with the traditional mild buffalo sauce.

If you love wings, this eatery has plenty of buffalo chicken menu items, from buffalo chicken dip to buffalo chicken wraps. With an incredible house buffalo sauce, I can’t blame them for putting it on everything.

Best overall: Hodak’s

Chicken is the specialty at Hodak’s, so if you are looking for top-notch wings, you can find them here. Order boneless wings, Sammie’s Hot Wings, Amaya’s Seasoned Wings, or Momma’s Sticky Wings; this joint likes to put its own spin on things.

Don’t forget about their other incredible menu items, like fried chicken, chicken parmesan, and chicken-fried steak. You’ll also want to stop by for their weekly lunch specials, which are never the same from week to week.

Best in the suburbs: Helen Fitzgerald’s

Many of my friends raved about Helen Fitzgerald’s chicken wings when I first moved to St. Louis, and after trying it, I can’t blame them. While Helen’s uses Syberg’s original wing sauce and whiskey glaze, they also have a house sauce called “Sweet Heat.” You can order their delicious chicken on a sandwich, a wrap, or even on a pizza, and of course, all of these items come with that delicious Syberg’s wing sauce.

This joint also has karaoke nights and regular live music, so it’s worth visiting on the weekends. With an Irish pub feel, a fun atmosphere, and even better food, Helen Fitzgerald’s is a St. Louis staple.

Best hangout: Milo’s Bocce Garden

Milo’s might have great pizza and pasta, but their wings are a best-kept secret. Tossed with housemade hot sauce, you’ll have the option of fried, grilled, or trashed wings. Order more than you think you need- you won’t be able to get enough of these.

While you’re here, be sure to partake in a bocce game, which is just a fancy term for Italian lawn bowling. Milo’s has open play in the afternoon and evenings, so this is a great place to bring a group of friends and try your hand at a game.

Best-kept secret: Peel Pizza

Yes, Peel is a pizzeria, but they also have some of the best wings that I have personally tried in St. Louis. Their wings are wood-fired, and they have a variety of sauces to choose from, including garlic, sweet balsamic, buffalo, maple bourbon black pepper, and more.

I like to go to Peel for happy hour to order discounted wings and cocktails, so the pizza is just a bonus.

Best menu: Three Kings

Three Kings Public House has won awards from St. Louis Magazine, Nextdoor, Sauce Magazine, and more, so it’s well-known that their food is fantastic. The Three King Wings are a delicious menu highlight, served with ranch or bleu cheese and topped with your choice of signature buffalo sauce or spicy Thai sauce. With over a pound of wings per order, this could be your entire meal!

The rest of the menu is excellent, offering smash burgers, fish and chips, cajun pasta, and hand-breaded chicken strips. With locations in University City or South County, you can enjoy Three Kings near the city or out in the suburbs.

Best Asian-inspired wings: O! Wing Plus

O! Wing Plus has been serving chicken wings since 2010. Founded by Steven and Heidi Song, this joint is especially unique due to its selection of Asian sauces.

After the wings are double-fried, you can choose from several sauces, like O’s teriyaki, Thai chili lime, parmesan garlic, and more. However, the signature sauce seems to be a popular choice, made from red chilis, soy sauce, and brown sugar to create a sweet and spicy blend of flavor.
