A Complete Guide to All of Wichita’s Coffee Shops

best coffee shops in wichita, kansas

Of course, like every other city in the United States, Wichita has Starbucks and Scooter’s on just about every corner. While those are all well and good, I like to stay #loyaltolocal when I get the chance. So, let’s focus specifically on Wichita’s local coffee shops and teahouses, the ones I’ve frequented and practically lived in since my first sip.

As all Wichitans know, we recently lost one of the best coffee shops Kansas ever saw: Mead’s Corner. Although their gelato lives on in my heart, the time for mourning is over. There are so many other great options out there!

Without further ado, let’s take a trip down memory lane and discover everything coffee that Wichita has to offer. There’s something for everyone on this list, so it’s time to hunker down and figure out where you’ll be sourcing your cinnamon lattes from now on—or is that just me?

Now, I have been going to Cocoa Dolce since I was a little girl, so I’d like to consider myself a resident expert. Or addict?

In any case, Cocoa Dolce is an absolute staple in Wichita culture and has withstood the test of time.

The chocolate? Amazing. The gelato? Amazing. The drinks? Amazing. But the real highlight is their Mexican hot chocolate. Rich, decadent, glorious, and a little bit spicy. Thank me later!

But Fairmount is more than just a coffee shop. They also host concerts, open mics, and Final Friday art shows. Bang for your buck, am I right?

The oldest coffee shop in Wichita: Il Primo Espresso Café

Every Tuesday and Thursday, I would walk from my grandma’s house to Il Primo to get a scone and a coffee. Every. Single. Week. So it’s official: Il Primo has fed and watered (coffee-d?) me for years now.

I especially love that their baristas come up with fun, custom drinks (think: Catwoman or Witch’s Brew) every few weeks. Yum.

It’s time to hop on the bandwagon and give the tried-and-true Il Primo a chance.

Sojourner’s Coffee House honestly makes my heart soar. Their menu is free, and all the baristas are volunteers. They only ask for donations, which makes it perfect for people of all walks of life.
