best go karts wichita ks

Listen: it gets hot in Kansas. Like, really hot. So, unless there’s a pool, most people don’t want to go outside. (Myself included.)

But racing round a go kart track, with the wind in your hair and adrenaline pumping through your veins… now that’s worth getting sweaty for.

So, if you, like me, are always looking for your next race around the track, here’s a list of the best tracks in and near Wichita, Kansas. (Plus, a few surprises for any hardcore racing lovers out there.)

Outdoor Go Karts near Wichita

For outdoor go kart racing, there are two tracks around town. One option is located right here in Wichita, while the other requires a bit of a drive.

All Star Sports (Wichita)

Like all other Wichitans, I spent much of my summer, childhood days either at All Star Sports or wishing I was there.

There is a mini-golf course, batting cages, an arcade, and an outdoor go kart track. With tires lining the track, you can bump and crash without actually doing any damage. There are kiddie go karts as well as adult go karts, so everyone can have a little fun.

The track is ¼ mile long, so you’ll be racing for about five minutes each turn. I’m smiling just thinking about it.

All Star Sports has the only outdoor go kart track in all of Wichita, so it may be crowded at times. But trust me, it’s worth it.

Emporia Family Fun Center (Emporia)

At only $6 a ride, it’s fair to say that Emporia Family Fun go karting is a real bang for your buck. You can do single rides as well as passenger rides, in case your kiddos are too young to go on their own.

And, if you get tired of racing round and round, they have an extensive mini golf course that’s beloved by all.

The Emporia Family Fun Center is just over an hour away from central Wichita. To make the drive worth it, you can always check out their other local attractions like their many antique shops or the David Traylor Zoo of Emporia!

Indoor Go Karts near Wichita

Similar to your outdoor options, there are basically two options for go kart racing while escaping the heat. (There used to be three, but Xtreme Racing & Entertainment Wichita closed a few years ago.)

Just like before, you’ll have your choice between one local option in town versus one option that requires a little drive. Nothing wrong with a road trip, though!

Alley Indoor Entertainment (Wichita)

Previously mentioned in the best bowling alleys in Wichita article, the Alley is back again! Although this indoor track is smaller than most outdoor tracks, it’s still a blast for the whole family. It even has that rubber-tire smell that I always associate with go karting.

Each race lasts about four minutes, and they have a strict no-bumping or roughness policy. That being said, this indoor track is still the best in town. (Not to mention the setting of many of my favorite childhood memories.)

If you want to escape the summer heat, then the Alley is probably the best bet for you. While it’s usually more crowded than All Star Sports, the blasting AC makes up for it!

And if go karting just isn’t enough for you, they also have bowling, escape rooms, hologate, and an arcade. So, what are you waiting for? They’ve got something for everyone!

District Eat and Play Salina (Salina)

The name “Eat and Play” is very accurate: not only do they have one of the longest go kart tracks in Kansas, but they also have FOOD. And by food, I mean burgers and hefty milkshakes, like the Mean Mug, comprised of bananas, three scoops of ice cream, strawberries, caramel, pretzels, and so much more.

So, not only do you get an intense sugar rush, but you also get the adrenaline rush of zooming around and around their track. Is there anything better than that?

The track here is fully indoors and boasts some of the nicest electric carts in the area. Plus, they sanitize the go kart helmets before and after each use, so you can feel safe in this pandemic-era.

It’s definitely upscale carting. So get out there and have some fun!

Go Karts for Sale in Wichita

Of course, visiting a track is just one option for racing go karts in Wichita. If all else fails, you could always buy your own cart!

Red Line Kart and Mower Supply (Wichita)

Red Line is located in the heart of Wichita and offers an extensive collection of small engine machines, including mowers, ATVs, and… Go Karts! Maybe not the most budget-friendly option if you’re just looking for a few laps, but for the serious racer, it’s something to consider!

Lastly, a surprise! Racing…

I know that actually driving the go-karts isn’t for everybody, so for those who’d rather watch some speed, these tracks are for you! They feature professional, semi-professional, amateur, and junior races, so there’s a range of expertise to experience.

It’s fun, it’s slightly dirty, and it’s super Kansas!

Salina Speedway (Salina)

This outdoor racing park is intense, to say the least. I like to say it’s the small-town Kansas version of NASCAR and Formula 1!

It’s family-friendly (kids under 16 are free), though it may get a little crazy as the night goes on. Believe me, though. You’re sure to see a wild ride.

Dodge City Raceway Park (Dodge City)

This outdoor park is top-tier racing, believe you me. They even offer classes, if you’re interested in becoming the next big thing.

You can find their schedule online and purchase tickets there too. They range from $10-$30 for a night on the track. Real steal, if you ask me!
